I am amazed at how easy the scanner is to use (my wife is terrible at using technology but uses this with ease) and how great the slides come out.
It's really a good deal and shows great quality. It even shows those scrathes on the negatives that are over 50 years old. Who wants to spend hours to transfer a handful of pics to the pc. Faster is cooler. I'd love to have something more instant. It's still slow on processing. Sorry, I'm a product of the microwave generation. Well, maybe on a down day.
I use it to scan old family photos and then clean them with up Adobe Photoshop Elements, and I'm very happy with the scanning results. I've had this scanner for almost 2 years, and I really love it. I scan at 1200 dpi and the scanner picks up every nuance of the original photos.
The ability to scan photos and documents was not high on my priorities; however, I've already used it for this purpose and I am pleased with the results. For my high volume purpose, I've decided to use the Full Auto method. I was disappointed (both at myself for not figuring this out before purchasing and for reviews not sufficiently pointing it out) that the Digital Ice feature was not useful either for Full Auto scanning or for Kodachrome. The scanner unit is constructed well and the Epson software is easy to use. Intended use was for scanning about 1,200 slides and 1,000 film negatives.
Installation and learning how to use the system was simple. The time required for the scan process is reasonable and better than some other scanners at the low price end of the market. Tested most of the many software options. Purchased based on many positive reviews in media and by Amazon users. The Full Automated process produces excellent results at this price point for my purpose even though it does not use Digital Ice.
If I decide to print a photo, I can always rescan using a more robust process to enhance the image.
Picture quality is awesome. can't wait Couldn't be happier. I helped him get set up and he's been having a ball looking at pics of his early years, wedding, etc. Great product.
Dad had over 600 slides dating back to the early 50's. Hookup is simple. it touches up, enhances color of faded slides etc. Haven't even scanned any photos yet. I bought this for my parents this past Christmas.
Easy install of software. Thanks Epson.
